京都大学iPS細胞研究所長の山中伸弥教授が、2012年度のノーベル医学・生理学賞を受賞されました。
以下に英語記事を参考にして、中学生向けにまとめてみました。
以下の文を訳してください。
Shinya Yamanaka was born in Osaka, Japan in 1962.
Between 1987 and 1989, Yamanaka worked as a doctor at the National Osaka Hospital.
From 1993 to 1996, he was at the Gladstone Institute to study biotechnology.
In 2006, he and his team generated induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS cells) from mice.
That was a breakthrough in science.
He received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2012 with John Gurdon of Britain.
The following are questions and answers between Yamanaka and reporters at a press conference on Oct. 8.
Question: What were you doing when this year's Nobel Prize was announced ?
Answer: I was in my home, and I was fixing a rattling washing machine when my cell phone rang.
Question: What do you think about your award?
Answer: It is hard for me to believe that I was chosen from many researchers. I strongly feel grateful and responsible.

・mice ： mouse（ハツカネズミ、マウス）の複数形
ちなみに、mouse は小型のネズミで、rat はドブネズミなどの大型のネズミ。
